Poon Hill trek is a short and popular trek in the Annapurna region, renowned for its stunning sunrise views. The trek begins in Pokhara (900m) with a scenic drive to Nayapul, and the trail passes through picturesque villages like Nayapul, Phedi, Naudanda, and Birethanti. One of the highlights is the Gurung community village of Ghandruk, known for its spectacular views of Fishtail, Himchuli, and Annapurna South. The trek, also known as the Ghorepani trek, continues through the lush forest of Baisikharka and ascends and descends from Tadapani to Ghorepani via Bhanthanti and Deurali pass. The destination, Poon Hill (3200m), offers breathtaking sunrise views of holy mountains, including Fishtail, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Bharah Shikhara, Tukuche, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, and Puta-Himchuli. The trek is not only known for its sunrise but also for fantastic sunset views from Poon Hill.
Day 1 : Upon your arrival at the International Airport, our office staff and dedicated driver will warmly welcome you. Look for your printed name and our company signboard, then follow our staff to collect your luggage and proceed outside. After completing visa formalities, you will be transferred to the hotel. Check-in, enjoy a complimentary welcome drink, and meet with our Company Manager for a detailed briefing on your trip. The remainder of the day is free for relaxation or personal exploration in the city.
Day 2 : Take a quick 25-minute flight to Pokhara, followed by a 1.5-hour drive to Nayapul. Embark on a scenic 5-hour trek to the picturesque village of Ghandruk, offering breathtaking mountain views. The day's journey totals approximately 6 to 7 hours, with the opportunity to visit the Ghandruk Museum and immerse yourself in the stunning surroundings of this beautiful village.
Day 3 : Embark on an easy day trek to Tadapani, taking approximately 3 to 4 hours to reach by noon. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon at Tadapani, where you can explore the nearby forest with a short hike. The breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Himchuli, Fishtail, and Annapurna IV make Tadapani a recommended overnight stop, allowing you to fully appreciate the scenic beauty of the surroundings.
Day 4 : Commencing the day, we descend to the Bhurungdi Khola River, followed by a steep rocky ascent to Ban Thanti at 3180 meters. As we continue, a stream with inviting pools for swimming accompanies our journey. Descending through enchanting pine and rhododendron forests, we reach the village of Ghorapani at 2750 meters. A short walk leads us to Deurali (meaning pass) at 2870 meters, offering a spectacular panorama of Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Tukuche, Annapurna South, Annapurna I (8091m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and Tarke Kang (7193m). The trek lasts for approximately 5 hours.
Day 5 : Begin the day with an early start, embarking on a 60-minute hike to Poon Hill (3195m). Witness a breathtaking spectacle as the sunrise unfolds over the high Himalayas. Spend approximately 40 minutes absorbing the panoramic views before descending to Ghorepani for breakfast. The trek to Ulleri involves a descent through forests and villages, offering an easy walk suitable for everyone. For those with extra energy, an extended trek to Thikedunga is also an option.
Day 6 : The trail descends further to Birethanti and Nayapul, the initial starting point of our trek. From there, we'll drive to Pokhara. In the afternoon, engage in a half-day (3 hrs) tour, exploring popular attractions like Devi’s Fall, Gupteshwor Cave, Seti River Gorge, Bhindyabasini Temple, and a 1-hour boat ride on Fewa Lake to visit Barahi Temple. The evening is free for dinner and leisurely walks around the Lakeside area for shopping and exploration.
Day 7 : Take a 25-minute flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, embark on a half-day tour, exploring the world's biggest and tallest Buddhist Stupa, the oldest Royal Palace at Kathmandu Durbar Square, and the temple of the Living Goddess - Kumari. Visit Swayambhunath Stupa situated on a hill for panoramic views of Kathmandu city. The evening is free for shopping and a leisurely stroll around the tourist hub of Thamel.
Day 8 : Enjoy a leisurely morning for any last-minute shopping or personal time. Our driver and airport representative will ensure a timely transfer to the airport for your departure flight. We guarantee that you depart Kathmandu with cherished memories and a lifetime of experiences. Safe travels!
